京 (Kyo) first began to venture outside of the musical boundaries of Dir En Grey in March 2000, when he formed TWO MONSTROUS NUCLEAR STOCKPILES as a one-off project. Although he had Kaoru help him, this could be considered his first work as a solo artist. A year later, Kyo released an experimental four-track CD as part of his poem book 自虐、斂葬腐乱シネマ. To that end, he took on the moniker 第三帝國楽団, which was also used as the CD's title. A second poem book, 前略、お元気ですか、最果ての地より名も無き君に愛をこめて…, was published in 2004. This time, the one-track CD mama was included, with Kyo using the moniker 腐乱シネマ帝國楽団.
These releases are so far the only ones Kyo released as a solo artist, but he did publish a couple of poem books over the years and formed the supergroups sukekiyo in 2013 and Petit Brabancon in 2021.
