月蝕 (Gesshoku) was Kyo's first band. They formed in August 1993 and disbanded on April 11, 1994, after an activity period of only nine months. The band name means "Lunar Eclipse" and was often used together with the tagline "schwarz weiß" (German for "black white").

Member History

LAYLLA, Tokuko, Yoma and Shū

The member history of Gesshoku isn't entirely clear. The last known lineup was taken from a flyer for the March 20 and April 11, 1994 lives.

Last known lineup
  • Vocals – 殀磨 (Yoma)
    • Yoma's name was mistakenly written as 妖磨 (Yoma) on Gesshoku's VHS. On the internet, it can also be found written as 殆磨 (Hotoma), likely based on a misreading of the correct kanji.
  • Guitar – LAYLLA
  • Bass – TOKUKO
    • During the early days of Gesshoku, Tokuko's name was written in Kanji as 忒己 (Tokuko), but he changed it to Romaji around December 1993. He announced his departure at the live on March 20, but most likely stayed until the disbandment live on April 11, 1994.
  • Drums – MASA
    • MASA most likely joined Gesshoku after Shū left. Although a text about the band's history mentions them using a "support drummer", his position is given as "Drums" on the flyer mentioned earlier. He later joined Viṣṇu and stayed until the disbandment of Masquerade. Afterwards, he joined the visual-kei band DlociA.

    • Shū left Gesshoku in late 1993, most likely before the live on December 26, 1993.
Unclear members
  • Guitar – Shuji
    • According to Seine (Viṣṇu / Masquerade), LAYLLA was replaced by Shuji at some point. However, his name doesn't appear in any known material. He was also a member of DlociA.
  • Bass – 麗 (Rei)
    • Rei participated in a session at Gesshoku's disbandment live and formed Viṣṇu with Yoma around May 1994. It's unclear if he was an actual member of Gesshoku.
  • Drums – Shura
    • Shura is shown on the earliest known photo of Viṣṇu (June 1994), along with Yoma and Rei. According to Seine, Shura was already a member of Gesshoku, but like Shuji, his name doesn't appear in any known material.

Much like Gesshoku's member history, the order of their releases isn't entirely clear either. Furthermore, it's impossible to say if these releases are all real, especially those without a lineup might be bootlegged.
