街を歩いていると一人の女の子が、 僕の視界に入り僕を見つめてました。 気付いてみると僕は声をかけていました。 「二人で何処か行こう」とても喜びました。 君はとても可愛く何時までも遊んだけど、 そのうち涙が頬を伝いました。 可愛さ余った君に憎さが溢れ出しました。 僕は君の首に手を回し力を込めました。 ぐったりとした君を、何度も何度も この手で殴りました。 君のお花畑で僕は種を蒔いたけれど、 紅く塗れた蕾は咲く事はない。 僕は自分の胸を切り刻み血を流した。 血で君の血を洗い、涙を流しました。 それから僕は、君を冷蔵庫に入れて、 そのまま地中へ深く沈めました。 悪いのは君だと何度も心に言い聞かせ、 僕には愛など必要有りません。 償い切れぬ罪から逃れられない事実が、 僕を死へと招き入れ白いロープで死にました。 紅く染められた悲劇は、一つも変わる事は無く 惨劇の夜は今も何処かで幕を開けました。	Machi o aruite iru to hitori no onna no ko ga, boku no shikai ni hairi boku o mitsumete mashita. The fact of being unable to escape guilt that cannot be atoned, Has led me to death and I died with a white rope. The tragedy dyed in crimson did not have one thing that changed And the night of tragedy continues to open its curtain somewhere even now.

Trivia

• One day before Dir En Grey began to record their debut EP MISSA (1997), Kyo was told to change the lyrics of 惨劇の夜, likely because of the brutal imagery. The band even considered to leave out the entire song, but decided that since it was the first song the people would hear, it was too important to be excluded. Thus, it received new lyrics and was renamed to 霧と繭. The original version was later released on 「楓」～if trans…～ (1997), along with 業, a similar case.
  • As such, this song is the only one in Dir En Grey's catalogue that was only ever released in the form of a music video.
• On June 14, 1997, Kyo performed a spoken word version of 惨劇の夜. It was called 語り (Katari) in the live report.
• Before this song was performed on May 5, 2023, the last time it was performed by Dir En Grey was on February 19, 2001. Because of this, it holds the record for the biggest gap between two performances with 22 years, 2 months and 16 days (8110 days in total).

Title

• According to the Japanese wikipedia, the working title of this song was "Tragedy Night".

Lyrics

• The lyrics card included with「楓」～if trans…～ mistakenly gives the lyrics as 「二人で何処かへ行こう」 ("Futari de doko ka e yukō"), although Kyo doesn't sing an へ (e). In the pamphlet that was released during the ～MISSA 発売記念LIVE～ shows in August 1997, this error isn't present.
  • Similarly, the card says そのまま地中へと深く沈めました。 (sono mama chichū e to fukaku shizume mashita), although Kyo doesn't sing a と (to). In the pamphlet, this error isn't present either.
• Not included in either lyrics are the words at the beginning and ending:

落ちてゆけ (Ochite yuke) – Fall down

• In the song's music video, subtitles with what appears to be an English translation can be seen:
